Monthly Song #5

Before we get to the monthly song, a little update first. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I’ve been working on some proper recordings of Morning Verses songs, so hopefully I’ll have a “studio” version of In Lieu of Flowers to share with you soon, which I’m excited to show you. As promised, I’ll release that to my paid subscribers here on Substack before it becomes available on streaming. I’m also trying to put together some live shows in Nashville in the near future so I’ll post here about those in case you’re local.

On to the monthly song.

I’ve been sitting on this one for a while and never got around to demoing it until tonight. I started this project, Morning Verses, as a way to detach myself from my work a little bit and give myself some room to try new things, or at least to be less precious with my songs. So in that spirit, I decided to dig this one out of the archives and give it a chance at life. It may turn out that it should’ve remained sequestered in my notebook, but I figured I would let you be the judge of that instead of my overly critical self. It is also possible that you will hear one of my cats running around in the background if you listen closely.
